The ZEAL of thine house.

zeal-word-cloud-concept-vector-260nw-1015104178I was just thinking this morning about the ZEAL that is mentioned about the Lord’s house. John records in 2:17 that considering how Jesus cleared the moneychangers from that rebuilt temple that had been originally dedicated to His true worship and service they, the disciples could not help but remember the Scripture from Psalm 69 – “For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.” Jesus is unchanging. Perhaps our “temples” have been “cleansed” due to many unholy and inordinate practices that have taken away from His true worship, witness and prayer. Perhaps too many had forsaken zeal for the truths, precepts, and worship of God and his unyielding insistence that the behavior of the people measure up to their outward claim of devotion to God. But one thing is clear, we need to REMEMBER the ZEAL of His house at this moment. We are all anxious to return to our assemblies and worship within our church walls. When we do, may we remember His zeal and keep all within worthy of His house.
